Thanks StephenB, I've emailed as required, hopefully the brains trust will be able to resolve the problem without the need for a full system reset.

I can't see a Plex package installed. If the Plex directory is still there under /apps, you could try deleting that then doing a clean install of Plex using the correct app for your system.
(a) Browse to the following URI in your preferred browser, replacing [ReadyNAS] with the IP address or hostname of your ReadyNAS and replacing [volume] with your volume name (default “data”)
Note: Do not include the brackets []. These are included for visibility.https://[ReadyNAS]/admin/browse.html#path=%2F[volume]%2F.apps
(b) If prompted for login use your normal web interface credentials
(c) select the plexmediaserver folder and click the delete button.
There are newer Plex builds available at plex.tv/downloads that you can upload to the NAS via the apps tab of the web admin page. The version available under Available Apps or at apps.readynas.com is a version that we have done some basic testing of.- LeMMin9Dec 23, 2015Aspirant
I'm not sure I'm getting to the location where apps are stored.
I'm entering the following address:
https://10.1.1.2/admin/browse.html#path=%2Fdata%2F.apps
which prompts me for my username and password and once it logs in it end up at the following address:
https://10.1.1.2/admin/browse.html#path=%2Fdata
I cannot find a location for app storage from this location, there is nothing in admin but the users I have enabled and the other folders contain my data

Use file explorer ("computer" for win 7), not the web browser.
Enter \\nasipaddress\data\.apps in the address bar, and use admin credentials. What you see will depend on what apps you have installed, but it will look something like this:
