Update to 4.1.9 and now can't access Frontview
I just updated my NV+ v1 to 4.1.9 (remote update)... now I can't access Frontview
"Safari can't open the page https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/admin because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait a few minutes, and then try again"
Well, I've waited more than a few minutes and I can't get access. Also tried rebooting the NAS with the power button (which it did just fine) but no impact on the problem.
I can browse the NAS shares in FInder, but my time-machine backup failed...
I'm feeling pretty stuck here, as I can't even regress to an older version of RAIDiator as without frontview I would not know how to install it.
Any ideas?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredRegarding the Time Machine error on your Mac can you go to Applications > Utilities > Console. In the log list on the left hand side, select system.log. Then in the string matching field type "backupd" (no quotes).
Please post the output that you get. - crnet_deAspirantTo access frontwiew, try using firefox. It could be a certificate problem with ya .
Btw: wich OSX u use? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWorth a try, but in my experience this problem suggests that most likely an add-on installed or something installed via SSH has led to Frontview being broken upon the firmware update. Should be relatively easy to fix.
If it was Frontview not displaying properly it'd suggest perhaps a caching issue or that it's a good idea to try another browser, but refusing to connect suggests the apache service has failed to start for one of the reasons given above.
I don't suppose you remember what version of RAIDiator the NAS was running previously Martinrh, do you? - MartinrhAspirantOne critical point I forgot to mention in my late might haste to post. I also installed the Samba_3_3_7_sparc_1.0.bin add on after the update. Since I was able to use Frontview to install this add-on the RAIDiator 4.1.9 is likely not to blame, but the add-on is. The question is how do I recover from this situation - how can I deinstall that add-on without access to frontview?
Thanks to those who have posted with questions and suggestions - here are the answers to those posted so far.
I've tried accessing with Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer on Vista 64... none succeed. Strangely Firefox actually does server me up a skeleton of the frontview page, but completely unpopulated with content and most options. It says "ReadyNAS null" in the top right hand corner and when I click the logout button (one of the very few buttons in the skeleton) I get the message "Null".
Output from system log for time machine backup:
"Jul 16 09:36:54 localhost com.apple.backupd[25407]: Starting standard backup
Jul 16 09:36:54 localhost com.apple.backupd[25407]: Attempting to mount network destination using URL: afp://ReadyNas@NAS1.local/ReadyNAS
Jul 16 09:36:55 localhost com.apple.backupd[25407]: NetAuthConnectToServerSync failed with error: -6600 for url: afp://ReadyNas@NAS1.local/ReadyNAS
Jul 16 09:36:55 localhost com.apple.backupd[25407]: Authentication error - the correct user or password info may not exist in the System.keychain or the server may no longer allow access for this user.
Jul 16 09:37:00 localhost com.apple.backupd[25407]: Backup failed with error: 29"
So it does look a password problem, but I've tried correcting this in time machine settings and the problem persists.
IIRC I was running 4.1.6 prior to the upgrade. - MartinrhAspirantI did a firmware reinstallation using the 5-second paperclip in the system reset button method.
I can now successfully get to Frontview and time machine is working again.
I also had to clear Firefox history on my MacBook, as it was still showing a skeleton and non-functional FrontView... not sure what was going on there, but the long and short of it is I have everything working again. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredGood. Do note that 4.1.9 contains a newer version of samba than that unsupported community add-on
- MartinrhAspirantGreat - thanks for the info on the version of Samba - I'll deinstall the add-on.
I put that Add-on in as I'm trying to get an iPad app called TIOD to access the ReadyNAS ... but still not having any success. I'll keep prodding and if I can't make any progress I'll post in a different thread.
