Upgrade ReadyNAS Duo v2 firmware > 5.3.7

Hello,

I have recently attempted a firmware upgrade on my ReadyNAS Duo v2 from 5.3.4 to 5.3.7 using the webconsole. I have run into a problem during the reboot part of the upgrade. After the first reboot, I rescanned using Raidar utility and saw that the device was running a file check. I let the file check run for a couple hours, when I came back the device seemed to be hung up on “File system check 100%”.

Here is a screen shot:

I can ping the device, but I can not access the web console and as you can see in the screen shot the “setup” button on the raidar utility seems to be greyed out. I should add that the device has been like this for about a week.

I have one 1tb western digital green drive in there, I do need to keep the data.

Regards,
a very confused wookie

  • maybe there are many FS errors in your data volume, just contact Netgear support. In the worst case, they can mount the data and let you transfer it out.
  • If you haven't already resolved it (this post is 2+ weeks old), can you hard power cycle it (turn it completely off, back on again)? It may have 'borked' during a uboot update (boot loader).

Cloud, you are a NTGR support person, can you try and fix it without them going through the suffering of trying to go through the support loop?
