Upgrading HD from 2TB to 3TB
I am using ReadyNAS Ultra 6 [X-RAID2] Firmware: RAIDiator 4.2.24 with six 2TB hard disk installed. As I am running short of space I upgraded one of the the HD to 3 TB. After resync the system is showing no increase in volume size. I cannot factory reset as I will lose all the data. Please help.....

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredAre you using X-RAID2 single-redundancy or dual-redundancy? What disks (how many and what capacity) were installed when you last did a factory reset?
If using single-redundancy you need to add another 2TB disk before expansion can take place.See X-RAID2 Single-Redundancy in Action. The volume can only be expanded if the extra space will be redundant (i.e. if any one disk fails data remains intact).
If using dual-redundancy you need at least four 3TB disks installed. Replace another 2TB disk, wait for the resync to complete then replace another disk etc.
Welcome to the forum! - Amit200465AspirantThanks for quick reply.
How I check the redundancy? From start I am having 6 HD of 2 TB capacity. Volume size in 9250 GB.
Do I have to replace another 2TB HD with 3TB. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIf you were using dual-redundancy Frontview would have said so.
Yes, your volume capacity indicates that you are using single-redundancy. So after replacing one more 2TB HDD with a 3TB one there will be a resync and then vertical expansion should take place. You may need to reboot once or twice before vertical expansion takes place. Wait 5-10 minutes between each reboot. - Amit200465AspirantThanks! Will try tomorrow and inform
