Upgrading route from 4.2.11 ReadyNAS 2100
Hi,
I hope someone can help. I'm looking to replace the HDDs in a ReadyNAS2100 with 3TB drives but believe I need to upgrade the firmware which is currently on 4.2.11. Can I install the latest firmware via the web gui or is it advisable to upgrade in steps?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Dan

- chirpaLuminaryYou can go directly to latest available version.
- dannas123AspirantThanks Chirpa.
I've started the upgrade but after 2 minutes I got the following message: 'Error encountered uploading update image [Time/Date WEST 2013]'. The update light is flashing on the web gui so am tempted to leave it for a while to see what happens if anything?! Any thoughts? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat exactly did you upload? You should have uploaded a file RAIDiator-x86-4.2.24 with no file extension.
- dannas123AspirantI clicked Update -> Remote -> Check for Update. It found 4.2.20 so I clicked Perform System Update.
I'm going to download RAIDiator-x86-4.2.24 manually and select Local rather than Remote so the image is local to the NAS device. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredAh you tried a remote update.
What web browser and version were you using? - dannas123AspirantI got there in the end!
For anyone else with the same problem (in my experience), I manually downloaded RAIDiator-x86-4.2.16 and did a Local firmware upload which worked after about 15 minutes. I then did the RAIDiator-x86-4.2.24 upload which also worked taking the same time. I only had 100GB data on the drive at the time.
Once this was done I replaced the standard HDDs with 3TB and then recovered the NAS from factory settings (which is fine with me).
Thanks mdgm and Chirpa for your help!
Regards,
Dan
