Version 6.6.0, Volumes lost...

I'm using an  Ultra 6 with 6x2TB drives, app. 35% used.

.

I've been running V6.6.0 for quit a long time.

Yesterday I was trying to write a 5-6 GB file to a folder on the NAS when it stopped working.

The NAS was no longer available on the network.

I turned the NAS of by pressing the button on the device and restarted it.

Usiing RAIDAR I connected to the device.

No volumes were avaialble.

I rebooted again using RAIDAR, I think I had to do it twice, and then the volumes were available again.

The machine did a resync that lasted several hours.

The 6.6 I installed was one of the early beta's.

It was patched by Skywalker to solve a fan issue.

According the the NAS I am running the latest firmware.

Should I manually instal the latest 6.6?

Can I trust that the drives will be ok?

    I got that :smileywink:

I think the odds are good that you won't need to re-do anything, since you are already on 6.6.0 (even if it is beta).  But there always is some risk that the new install will overwrite something.

Well, it would be better to run the final version (or perhaps even 6.6.1 beta).

I'd check the SMART stats (download the log zip file).  You could also schedule the on-line disk tests.

      All volumes are without errors.

Smart-history also shows no errors but has not been updated since 2016-08-01.

I have updated the OS and various other stuff (owncloud, ..) to latest levels available for Debian.

Will I have to do that again whein I update the firmware?

Not sure what you mean by updating the OS - depending on what you did, some updates could be overwritten by the install of the firmware.  Apps shouldn't be, but you should check the two compatibility lists here: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/31221

In addition, there were some issues with plex.
