Volume 'root' usage is 84%

I've had my ReadyNAS 314 for almost three weeks now and have been mostly having a good experience.

This evening I received this log alert:
Volume: System volume 'root' usage is 84 %. This condition should not occur in normal conditions. Please contact technical support

I have 4 x 2TB SATA drives for a total of 5.23TB storage, of which 857GB is currently used, which is about 17% used, nowhere near the 84%. All other system indicators seem to be green or normal.

What could be causing this error message and is this a cause for concern?

  • @SteveMathews:

Funny - I started getting those alarm emails again, as CrashPlan's cache once again had grown quite large.
So I actually fixed the thing yesterday, and after a long and conclusive test period of a full day <irony> it seems the changes work.

StephenB is right, that xml file is the place to make the changes. There is one entry for the cache folder and four entries for where to store log files.
I'll try to find time to do a full write-up later today or tomorrow, will link it from here then.

That would be great. Then maybe we can link that into the main crashplan for dummies thread.
