Will ReadyNAS DUO fan speed quiet down after firmware update
I just factory reset my RNDuo v1 and updated the firmware RAIDiator 4.1.4 but the fan is still walloping at 5400 RPM. I could have sworn after the update there was a radio button or simialr switch in the GUI to control that.
How can I get the RN quiet again after this reset?

I don't see any logs about sync status.
And the volume is redundant?
You could try the Enable Fan Min RPM add-on, as some have found that it also seems to solve the high-speed problem. No idea why that would work, but it is easy to try. Just make sure you don't set the min fan speed too low.

Why did you install 4.1.4? That's 12 years old.
Current 4.1.x firmware is 4.1.16. https://kb.netgear.com/000038792/RAIDiator-Version-4-1-16-Sparc

I read on the forum that it addresed the loud fan issue.

I don't know what you read, but any fix in 4.1.4 would have been carried forward to 4.1.16.
I suggest reverting back to current firmware.
Was the fan running continuously at 5400 rpm? Was the NAS still syncing?
