X6-TL shutting down randomly, XRAID now failed to start
My ReadyNAS has been working perfectly since I bought it back in 2006 until the last week.
It has started shutting down intermittently and restarting itself. It sends me messages indicating an improper shutdown. This is happening frequently (4/5 times) in the last couple of days.
I had thought it may be due to the arrangement of discs in the device, as I have upgraded 3/4 of them. Currently there are 3x 1Tb Western Digital RED drives and 1x 300Gb Maxtor DiamondMax drive in the ReadyNAS.
The device was configured for dual redundant X-Raid, as per factory settings. The ReadyNAS is running Raidiator v4.1.10.
I removed the smaller drive, as the logs suggested to me that it was getting rather full and without it, I may have greater capacity.
On rebooting, the device came back up but threw another warning: The X-RAID engine has failed to start. To ensure data integrity, please refrain from using the NAS and contact Support immediately.
I have extracted the logs and shut down the ReadyNAS and am not sure where to go from here. I have raised a support case with NetGear (20884377)
Is there anywhere I could investigate in the logs for more information on what may be happening?
Many thanks, RobC

- altern8st8AspirantNetgear support suggest a Factory Reset. I am assuming this will wipe any data on the device. Is this correct?
With the device in it's current state, would copying data from it cause any difficulties or is it already past that stage.
I did have backups working last summer, but now I am in the uncomfortable position of being backup free - oops! - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserFactory reset will wipe your data. It will also remove your configuration (users, groups, add-ons, etc).
- altern8st8AspirantLooks like it's dead. Never mind.
