Ability to disable SSID Broadcast

Can you enable more advanced setting options via the webgui on the RBR753S like you do on the other Orbi Models? Like diable SSID broadcast, MIMO, etc?

  • I second and many others want this option to be enabled for Orbi RBR850. I've used Netgear Routers for decades now and this is the first time the SSID broadcast is not included in the admin options.

  • I'd also like to request the following:

Ability to set via DHCP lease time via GUI
Ability to change the admin username (Major Security Hole)
Ability to enable and disable Guests from seeing each other on the network

    Also, The ability to configure:

Beamforming, MIMO, FastRoaming & Daisy Chain

Basically, I'm requesting Advanced Settings in Advanced Settings.

Right now, it's more like an Apple product (no offense to Apple) and I really need to tweak it for my use like I've done on the other Orbi and Nighthawk routers.

  • Just following up. Is it possible to get a response to this request?

  • I agree with JoshHen.  I had an earlier version of an ORBI router and I could disable SSID broadcast.  I don't want outsiders to see the name of my network, or even that there is a network here!  NETGEAR, please restore the option to disable SSID broadcast!!!  Why did you eliminate this option?

  • I've been racking my brain thinking I missed something when searching for SSID broadcast disable, but further research here indicates that this is a flaw in Orbi's approach.  I like that I can hid the guest network, but would like to hide my entire network from visibility. Yes, I know hackers can see still the network with tools, but for the average user, it keeps the network hidden from snooping.  You can't connect to something if it's not "visible".

  • Agreed.  Having a hidden SSID is an added level of security for a WiFi network even if one uses a strong password.  It is harder to break into a door you cannot see.

  • Following up again. Can someone from Netgear respond about putting more advanced settings (like in other models) in advanced settings?

  • Amen!  I want this as well and can't believe this is something they'd remove.
