Feature Request: Block or allow individual devices based on time schedule
I have an R7500 Nighthawk router that works beautifully. But one feature I miss is the ability to block individual devices based on a time schedule. There is a feature to block ALL devices on a time schedule, but not individual devices. Please consider adding that feature.
For example, I want to block my 2 kids Ipods between 9pm and 7am on school nights, and 10pm and 7am on weekends, and allow all other devices. Unless I'm missing something, this is not currently possible

Years ago there people making their routers from old computers and they seem to have none of the issues of today where have we gone wrong with are networking devices. Sure they were simple in function next today's routers for me some the functions on today's routers are meant to be eye candy with limited usable if any at all for the end user.

I have purchased a small network computer and installed pfsense on it. Pfsense is a powerful opensoure (free) firewall, router software package.
My Netgear routers old and new are now connected to pfsense as access points. So those investments did not go to waste.
I'm running this config for months now and I'm very impressed. - William10aMaster
Glad to see that the past can live and work with the here and now lets hope the future holds the same picture

Im probably going to send my new X4S R7800 back and get a Linsys or Asus because this crucal feature is missing.

I'm still astounded that this hasn't been added. The ability to block certain devices from the Internet (NOT the network) at specified times is the simplest method of parental control. Having to use my 10 year old Linksys router instead and using my "fancy" new Netgear router as nothing more than an access point seems silly. :(

- cyberprashantLuminarymy r7000 which has circle built-in now with the latest firmware update sits as a border router with the wifi off and the orbi in AP mode. Working well. Be nice if ORBI can add meetcircle esp if a 5 yr old r7000 can support it.

The timing on device schedule for blocking certain devices needs to happen it's been 3 years why hasn't this happened yet

I fixed this problem myself. It was actually really really easy. Simple 10 step recovery/rediscovery process.
Step1: Disconnect power and all cabling from the netgear router
Step2: Remove the router from the desk, wall, table, wherever you have it placed
Step3: Put on your shoes, jacket, etc and get your car keys
Step4: Place the netgear router under the rear wheel of the car
Step5: Get into the car and drive to your nearest preferred computer/electronics store
Step6: Purchase a DLINK router. I purchased the 880L
Step7: Return home, ensuring to park where the netgear router is directly under a tire. (Park that way, repeatedly, for the next 5 days before cleaning it up and tossing it in the recycle bin)
Step8: Place your new DLINK router and connect cabling, turn it on.
Step9: Configure your new DLINK router, complete with individual device MAC based scheduling and access controls
Step10: Goto opendns.com and setup your account (FREE) for world class constantly updated web content access control. Set the DNS server settings in your DLINK router to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
Results; a rock solid router that has individual device (MAC based) access controls, multiple device access scheduled, and solid dependable content access controls (opendns)
That's it. Easy.
PS: If you want to look into the features of any of dlink's devices, a really helpful tool is their online emulators. By selecting the device of interest and running the emulator, you can quickly see what is included and what is not on each device - so as to select the best device for your needs. The emulators are found under the support page(s) for the device of interest.

Well though a wonderful idea Face_De_Ace. I replaced my Netgear with Lynksys which kept dropping connection with the Nighthawk, even had the Spectrum supplied Sagecom for a minute, and don't want to buy yet another router. I just want Netgear to step up from the stoneage and get the Genie up updated with the times! not a fan of the OpenDNS interface either. :)
