AC1600, C6300 CM MAC is MAC-2, xfinity want's MAC-2 not MAC for installation

Just trying to get out the simple information that the CM MAC, I do not know what it is, is not the same as MAC that you acquire from the modem, arp -a, label, etc.  The CM MAC = MAC-2.  So if you give xfinity the MAC, they will not install your modem.  They want the CM MAC that is not always available.

Spent hours with Netgear and xfinity trying to get my modems/routers to work.  No luck.  They do not know what CM MAC is and all a person can find out is the MAC.  So if you cannot install your modem, try MAC-2.  Do not know why this is a secret.  Why xfinity and netgear support do not know this fact.  I had no problems installing the modems using MAC-2.  Only takes a couple of minutes with xfinity app.

Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the Cable Modem products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with Cable modems and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this router forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

Please use this link to the main forum product list to review and choose where to make your posts.

Thank you.
