C7800 Nighthawk Firmware Release Information
Is anyone able to provide me with release information for the different firmware versions? Looking for security update, feature or quality update, UI update, etc, primarily for the versions listed further down. I do wish this was something NETGEAR release publicly.
Backstory as to why I am asking:
I recently engaged Spectrum to see when (or if) they would release the latest firmware for my device.
Spectrum's current approved firmware for this device is V3.01.40
All other ISPs have approved and deployed V6.01.07

In my personal opinion and professional experience, 3 major versions behind is not a place you want to be.
I am hoping to get the details on these firmware updates to see what issues were addressed between versions, and strengthen my case for Spectrum to catch up and release the latest firmware.

Re: C7800 Nighthawk Firmware Release Information
NG doesn't provide any FW update information. You'll need to contact the ISP for your modem as they required and responsible to update FW. FYI, some ISP may or may not update user owned modems.
Good Luck.

Re: C7800 Nighthawk Firmware Release Information
I have contacted the ISP on numerous occasions.
I am being stonewalled - tiered support staff at Spectrum are not able or willing to escalate my request to network engineering teams. Same for the supervisors I had spoken to with Spectrum support.
Are there any NETGEAR staffers in this community? I need someone on the inside at one of these companies who gives a damn.
Spectrum says "contact NETGEAR for assistance in updating your firmware" and I direct them to the KB that explicitly states Spectrum gets the firmware from the vendor, and needs to approve/release, but get no explanation for why it has not been approved, while all other ISPs have approved/released.
I have said at all junctures, if the solution from Spectrum is "we're not updating it because we don't want to," in the end that is their right and I have to accept that as a customer with customer-owned equipment, but I haven't even received that as an answer. Their answer is it just hasn't been done, and that's why I need to scratch this itch - why has the firmware update not been released?

Re: C7800 Nighthawk Firmware Release Information
NG gives FW to the ISP for there testing and certification. Once at the ISP, again, it's up to the ISP to update modems. Again, they may or may not update user owned modems. NG or users can update FW once it hits the ISP.
Ask for escalated support at the ISP.
Good Luck.

Re: C7800 Nighthawk Firmware Release Information
You're unlikely to get anywhere with it. the C7800 is now 2-2.5 generations behind (Wireless 6, Wireless 6E, Wireless 7).
Most consumer developers aren't going to invest any more $ in them. Especially for modem/router combo devices as certification costs a significant amount.
options?
1. Keep using it as is. Its a pretty solid device and most "vulnerabilities" tend to be something the they need access to the device to do anything with.
2. Put it in modem only mode and pickup a newer router. the modem side is pretty darned well locked down.
