CAX30 Stability, Optimum and QOS

CAX30 V1.01

Firmware: 1.4.10.8

Cable Firmware: 1.04.09

Using AX, no guest network, one AP on 2.4 and 5, near but not on similar channels.

I've been experiencing frequent wifi dropouts with my CAX30 while browsing.  Some deep drops in speed too.  My signal is listed as good.  When operating smoothy I can manage 348MB/s on Optimum 300 plan.  Upload speeds oddly are frequently 15/20MB/s, which sucks.  An AP hard wired to the CAX30 tends to lose internet access when the CAX30 loses internet access.  So sometimes I lose internet access, and sometimees the wifi drops and reconnects.  A curious thing is when everything is working correctly AX speedtests faster than GB hard wired.  The situation is not improved when plugging a Netgear wifi router into the CAX30.

Optimum says they support but have not approved this modem, or something like that.  I had similar issues with a retired modem/wifi unit that was also working on Optimum managing 200MB/300MB plan.  I blamed the drops on the modem, hence the CAX30 upgrade, but I'm starting to wonder.  Having Optimum run tests on a non-Optimum modem seems like a big waste of time, or not, haven't tried it.

The curious thing is I don't receive these drop outs when using Discord.  I'm thinking the 'always on' nature of Discord, particularly when on an active call, maintains some sort of stable connection to some piece of the chain.  That got me thinking to add Firefox as a QOS priority app.  The thing is, there doesn't seem to be a QOS setting within the CAX30.  Am I missing something?

Any suggestions on either issue?  I am on a short trial of cable with some perks that I'd like to collect on, but I am very close to returning the CAX30 to Costco and going back to FiOS.

Re: CAX30 Stability, Optimum and QOS

Please post a copy and paste of the modems connection status page.
Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute then back ON.

What wired and wireless devices do you have connected?

What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Is smart connect enabled or disabled?
