CM1100
So I currently have a ASUS - AC3100 Dual Band Wi-Fi Router and a ARRIS SB8200 on Cox GigaBlast service. I had the technician come out because I was only getting 450mb even if we hooked right to the cable modem. He recommended that I buy the Netgear Nighhawk CM1100 to get better speed. So I am going to costco today and buying the CM1100. I hope this is not a waste of money since my SB8200 was suppost to support Gig internet with the DOCSIS 3.1. He also loaded the latest firmware on my SB8200 and I had the latest firmware on my AC3100. Any suggestions would be appreciated since I spent alot of money on my current equipment. Thanks in advance.

Re: CM1100
the Arris sb8200 should support gigabit speeds. What website are you using for testing? I have gigabit and many speedtest websites won't max it out. you can try. I know both of these can get close to maxing out gigabit.

Re: CM1100
I just bought the Netgear Nighthawk CM1100 and will see if I get an Internet speed increase over my Arris SB8200.

Re: CM1100
Maybe a stupid question but if I install two Cat6a cables between the 2 Lan ports on my CM1100 and my wireless router will it increase the speed?

Re: CM1100
You'd need a router that supports link aggregation and a provider (comcast, cox, etc) who supports this feature/speed.

What speeds were you getting from the other test sites? the same?
did upgrading to the CM1100 fix the issue?
I tested using an ethernet cable and wireless with my Mac laptop. I used speedtest.net by ookla and was getting a range from 250mb to 450mb on Cox GigaBlast. I have not installed the CM100 yet but will tonight.

Re: CM1100
OK I tested my Arris SB8200 and it was hitting 440mb. I then switched to the Netgear Nighthawk CM1100 and it got me 660mb.

Have you tried a different computer to see if speeds improve?

Can't seem to to do a screen capture of it.
1.first pull up the modem configuration screen. then search (if you're on windows) for snipping tool on your windows programs. Use this to capture the information from the modem configuration.
2. Try a different computer. Not a tv, tablet, smart device. A different laptop or desktop to see if it could be a computer issue or setting causing it.
3. On the other computer, try the different websites I listed.

Re: CM1100
It looks like this thread hasn't been updated in awhile, but I am looking to see if there are common issues. I have cox and went from the 100 Mbps plan to the 300 Mbps plan and the speeds have been slower then when I was on the 100 Mbps plan. At some point Cox said there was an issue with the channel binding. I am not sure what that means, but I guess the 300 service uses different or more channels than the 100 service. Is there a way to know the problem is with the modem or with Cox?

Re: CM1100
Would be a ISP issue. The CM1100 handles up to 32x8 channels UP and Down. I've had mine on a 1Gb service and worked well.
Have a tech come by and check there singal up to the modem.
Only other issue could be just a bad modem that needs to be replaced.
