CM700 ethernet port with switch
I'm considering replacing my current cable modem with the CM700 Netgear modem/router. This model has one gigabit ethernet port.
The wireless router is an R7000 set up in AP mode. That router will connect to the modem/router via an existing ethernet cable from the other room.
I also need to connect a few devices (including an NAS storage device, a laptop and a printer) to the network via ethernet. I would like to attach a separate ethernet switch to the modem's ethernet port and have everthing connecto to that switch.
Essentially, it will looke lie this:
Internet -> cable modem -> ethernet switch in modem's ethernet port <- (NAS, printer, laptop, wifi router from other room)
Will this be possible?
I appreciate any assistance.
Thanks in advance.

Re: CM700 ethernet port with switch
Hi,
we strongly recommend you NOT to do it. It may not even work.
Reasons:
1. ISP ONLY allow 1 IP unless you are business account. Even if you have business account, you will only 5 IPs.
Correct way to do it it
Comcast --> CM700 --> Router ----> TV

Comcast --> CM700 --> Router ----> ANY wired or wireless device..

Re: CM700 ethernet port with switch
I can vouch for the CM700/R7000 combo, works great for me with gigabit service.
