Re: APN 1028 error on MR6500
Bad luck 😞
I noticed when a lot family members use the router the 512 / 1028 error seems to trigger much faster.
I started a netflix stream on the dell laptop. A netflix stream on the tablet and a plex stream on my mobile phone.. took not long and it crashed with a 1028 error:

@Darky28
I started a netflix stream on the dell laptop. A netflix stream on the tablet and a plex stream on my mobile phone.. took not long and it crashed with a 1028 error:
@Darky28
Here are the details on the 2 error messages. They are related to SIM subscription and network rejects or releases the connection.
512 is PS_NET_DOWN_REASON_ALREADY_IN_TC
PS_NET_DOWN_REASON_ALREADY_IN_TC
This error code is returned when data call is brought down
because traffic channel request got rejected by CM since traffic
channel is already up for voice calls
1028 is PS_NET_DOWN_REASON_EMM_DETACHED
Could you please advise the SIM card plan is for data only device? Not sure whether this is also related to roaming agreement between the 2 carriers.
If possible, you can get a cheap pre-paid data plan from the Italian carrier and see whether the device performs differently.
Please also send me another model.json file with the new FW.
Thanks
John

Re: APN 1028 error on MR6500
Hi John
I have the following plan:
https://www.vodafone.de/freikarten/callya-black
unlimited Data in 4G and 5G networks
phone and sms flat but only within germany
500 minutes phonecalls or SMS to Europe
Europe Roaming inclusive.
This morning i couldnt bear it anymore having to restart the router all 15-30 minutes.
I took out the sim card from the router and put it in my Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro tablet.
I setup a hotspot from my tablet and its running stable full day with multiple Netflix streams youtube streams and online gaming for the whole family.
So its definitely an issue with the router and not the sim-card or the data plan.
The 4 weeks prepayed costs me 80$ for 4 weeks, so you can immagine im not eager to buy and try an italian sim card.
I'll put the SIM card back in the router and mail you the new model.json in a second.
Ok I've just mailed you the new model.json file.

Re: APN 1028 error on MR6500
Just to let you know about some additional testing I've done and things I noticed. I am in Tennessee and on a data plan.
watching TV at night is fine, and working during the day, basic email, and some low bandwidth web portals all while streaming youtube is fine. But if I hop on a teams call with video or try to share my screen, things that seem to put a load on the device/network is when I get the errors.
just for reference, I am only streaming youtube at 480 resolution to keep the load down and I am getting 2 or 3 bars of signal strength on the device.

Re: APN 1028 error on MR6500
On a Nighthawk M6 Pro purchased Thursday 13 July 23 from an AT&T storefront in Texas, cellular data service provided by AT&T, at a semi-remote location in Mississippi:
Nighttime hours, the cellular signal very often is too faint for the M6 to connect. Daytime hours, Friday the 14th, there were no apparent issues; Saturday the 15th, error 1208 and the associated message appears every 15-30 minutes. Additionally, while this reply was being prepared, it powered off. When I restarted it, there was a yellow warning triangle. Pressing the warning produced the message "battery charging stopped due to excessive heat" or something similar.
Is there a fix yet?

Re: APN 1028 error on MR6500
I am getting the same 1028 error code. On AT&T. We just bought this hotspot to be able to livestream our church service and the error cuts off the stream. Any advice on a fix for this? What further information do you need?

Re: APN 1028 error on MR6500
Received that error message four times and had to reset. The device finally went back to AT&T. They said it must been a flaw in the Sim card but a new Sim card and I laughed and no more than 20 minutes later it did it again, so went back to AT&T store and they said well maybe it's a hardware issue so they gave me another unit with another new Sim card and within a half an hour it did it again what is the quick fix so this does not continue to happen

Re: APN 1028 error on MR6500
I did a couple things on my end that seems have eliminated the issue or at the very least greatly reduced it.
I moved the device to where it gets a more stable signal. Not really a "better" signal, it's still only 2 bars, but it stays 2 bars. When I'm watching anything on youtube for example, I leave it on 480 resulution. even 720 seems to be too much for it but at 480 I'm ok and the video isn't so bad unless you're trying to read words.
Unfortunately I understand this isn't something everyone can do depending on the coverage where you are but I wanted to keep this post updated with what I've found.

I am in a AT&T 5G area and pay for unlimited. Someone needs to make adjustments to what they tell customers. And at very least they should know about this.
Could you please help to capture a model.json file while you see the error alert and email it to me at jopeng@netgear.com. We are looking into this issue closely now.

Re: APN 1028 error on MR6500
Hi John
Another thing I forgot to mention, that might be important.
In the holiday flat in italy (3 room apartment) the Wifi-Strength of the Nighthawk M6Pro was abyssmal bad in just the next room. And that with the setting for the extended range on the router (even in no battery mode)
The Xiaomi Tablet i used as hotspot (Has also Wifi 6) got a far better signal strength than the Nighthawk router.
Devices connecting to the The 5 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz band of the Xiaomi Tablet had always max signal strength in the 3 room appartment, while with the nighthawk M6 Pro the 2.4 and 5 ghz band got barely 2-3 stripes of signal strength just in the next room.
Is there an issue with the internal antenna maybe? so its overheating and losing connection because it tries to send the wifi signal in a good strength?
Greetings
Darky28

@Rashenfelter - Have you tried running the device without a battery whilst using bandwidth heavy applications?

Re: APN 1028 error on MR6500
I updated the firmware, and used it on plug in only mode (removed the battery) this week, and I did not have any issues. No error messages and got better performance than any other time I've used it. I will continue using it on plug in only mode and let you know if the problem reappears.

Update: After removing the battery and running the firmware updates, the issue went away. For added information, we were camping in an area that could have had a low signal and a lot of ATT devices close by.

Re: APN 1110 error on MR6500
My daughter is using MR6550 with EE 5G card in UK. She encountered "Error 1028" frequently last week. I told her to enable "Roaming data" in APN setting. Now, she encounters "Error 775". Please advise how to fix it.
