M6 Pro stuck in a reboot cycle

So I have an M6 Pro through AT&T on a first net sim. My issue started recently after a firmware update. Prior to the update, I had no issues whatsoever. Now it seems the device is stuck in a reboot cycle where it either will fail to fully power on or if it does power on, it stays on for anywhere from 1-5 minutes then initiates a reboot. I’m new to the device and how this stuff works so any help would be appreciated.

I have a similar problem probably from the same update a few days ago. There is a tiny button under the cover to reset it but it didn’t work for me. It’s the size of a paper clip hole . I feel I might just have an over priced paper weight now.

Re: M6 Pro stuck in a reboot cycle

I’ve tried everything that I can possibly think of from using the reset button multiple times, to running it with the battery in, running it with the battery out on AC power, trying to force a software update and nothing has seemed to work. I’ve seen other threads where people have the same sort of issues but there seems to be no solution. I have noticed that when I boot it without the SIM card inserted it boots right up and performs as it should, but it has no service connection due to the SIM card being out. I’m stumped and I don’t want to keep paying for something that I’m not getting any use out of.

Re: M6 Pro stuck in a reboot cycle

Hi, All,

Our engineering team is aware of the issue and is currently investigating and working on a fix. I will be sure to update the thread as soon as I can.

May I also request for the following information:

- Location (City, State)

- Are you using a FirstNet SIM? Have you tried another SIM?

- Device SKU (e.g. MR6500-100NAS)

- Firmware version

Regards,
Blanca

Re: M6 Pro stuck in a reboot cycle

So I’m not sure if I did something to fix it or what but mines been working without the constant reboot cycle for approximately a week now. It does restart here and there but not nearly as much as it did when I originally made this post.

Re: M6 Pro stuck in a reboot cycle

I have a Netgear Nighthawk M6 Pro. Model MR6500. Firmware version NTGX65_10.01.38.00.

I am based in the United Kingdom. Using a UK SIM. The name of the company who provide the SIM is ID Mobile. The router is rebooting around on average every 10 minutes. Although sometimes less than 10 minutes.

Seems to be working fine in getting a connection to the mobile network. I can run 4k video off youtube no problem. Then without warning the router will go into reboot cycle.

Re: M6 Pro stuck in a reboot cycle

If your M6 Pro is stuck in a reboot cycle, try these steps:

  1. Disconnect the device from power.
  2. Remove any recently installed WordPress plug-ins.
  3. Restart the device and see if the issue persists.

Re: M6 Pro stuck in a reboot cycle

Did you do the initial boot fix with or without a SIM card installed?

I've recently acquired a MR6500 "unlocked" that is supposedly was doing the reboot cycle.  I picked it up cheap enough to make it worth my while to see if I can fix it.  When it arrived, the battery was too low to power up the unit.  When I plugged it in, I got a message informing me that the battery was too low to boot and needed to be charged. It's now charging without a SIM card installed and is charging as expected.  I was able to get to the home screen after complaining that the SIM was not installed.  So far, I have not seen it reboot.   When I did get to the home screen, I was able to confirm that someone did have it powered up long enough to change the WIFI network name and password.  It obviously has not been factory reset before me acquiring it.  Now waiting on the "boot loop" software to become available before I proceed.
