D7000 Drops Internet
Hi there,
Once a month for the past 4-5 months my D7000 will drop internet connection. I have contacted my ISP - Vodafone and every time I call, they see no fault on their end. All the lights are on the modem when this happens, WiFi is working, just no internet. The only fix is to reboot my D7000 and then all is ok, for another month. Why is this happening? Also happens at random times and days. I have the latest firmware as well now.

I see occasional DSL disconnects on mine, but probably less often
than 1/month. When mine disconnects, everything on the LAN works, but

I assume that the firmware is defective in yet another way.

An actual version number would be more helpful than your opinion of
what "the latest" is "now". Mine is currently "V1.0.1.64_1.0.1".
I can't tolerate this kind of unreliability, so I've arranged a batch
job which uses Wget periodically (10 minutes) to attempt to download a
web page from my ISP's site. If that fails three times consecutively
(30 seconds between tries), it declares a disaster, sends me an e-mail
message (locally), and then resets the router by using NTE to enable its
Telnet interface, and Kermit to log in and send a "reboot" command.

A week or so ago, I finally hit a Popeye moment, and put in the time
to make this work. In the past few days, it's been triggered once, but
I'm not sure if that was a problem with the D7000 or the IPS's web
server. I may add another test or two to reduce the dependence on the
ISP's server. Perhaps "ping 8.8.8.8".
None of this should be needed, of course. With BASIC > Internet :
Connection Mode : Always On, the D7000 itself should be attempting to
reconnect, unless I tell it not to. (Which part of "Always On" was
unclear?) In principle, one could arrange a Connect command instead of
a (brutal) "reboot", but, in this case, I chose simple over clever (and
more susceptible to firmware changes).
