D7800 Nighthawk
Id like a little HELP!!!
I have a Nighthawk D7800 Router with the latest firmware, I am with BT so every time I enable the IGMP settings my Amber port lights start blinking constantly, then the next day the internet drops. All I want is to see some music on my tv without installing their router. ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!!
Thanks again

The D7800 is a modem router, not a simple router. Is that what you have? If so, is it working alongside a BT modem? Or standalone?

Any reason why you are doing this? I have never felt the need.

Re: D7800 Nighthawk
Hi Micheal
Yes it’s a Nighthawk D7800 ( stand alone ) I have had this router for over a year now. All works well apart from that minor problem.the reason I use this router is for FTP & Ready Nas.
do you have any solutions on why this is happening?

Re: D7800 Nighthawk
What firmware version do you have on the router? A number is more useful than any vague "the latest" guesses. (It may not be by the time people read this, and there can be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up in the browser interface.)
I asked why you enable the IGMP settings. Did BT tell you to do that?
You imply that this is what caused the disconnect. What happens if you do not enable IGMP?
You also say "Amber port lights start blinking constantly".
What are these amber port lights? Ethernet? DSL/Internet?
There is a manual and support for the D7800 somewhere at the end of this link:
>>> D7800 | Product | Support | NETGEAR <<<
See page 284 for how to interpret the LEDs.

Re: D7800 Nighthawk
Hi
firmware 1.0.1.34
i enabled the IGMP because it supports BT proxying
if I disable IGMP internet all works fine but I can’t see any music channels on my BT box
As soon as I enable IGMP my Ethernet port lights start blinking constantly.
Can you help ??

Re: D7800 Nighthawk
First see if a factory reset helps.
If not, I'd visit the BT forum, where there are many thousands of BT customers who know more about these things than the handful of BT users here.
I would also look in the logs of the D7800 for any clues.
