DGN2200 Port Forwarding Not Working
1) tried both firmware .20 and .36, no success
2) in .20 created the service, no success
3) in .36 created the service and the firewall rule, no success
4) the only real forwarded ports that work are the 21, 443 in usb management and the 8080 on remote management, all other ports forwarded to an internal static IP fails miserably
5) the router itself is very good but this port forwarding is driving me mad which means I might switch back to my dismissed equipment which works perfectly with ports forwarding
6) my isp is not blocking any ports and I am not new at doing this
7) https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?rh1dkyd2 states usually STEALTH not closed or even CLOSED when it is open. Silly...
Any suggestion will be appreciated

Re: DGN2200 Port Forwarding Not Working
Re-upgraded firmware n done several tests
Vuze nat test says tcp port is ok while it fails testing udp port
Emule test tcp fails
Grc.com shields up test says stealth for all forwarded ports while
It says open only for ports used by dgn2200 itself like 21 and 8080
If i disable the usb ftp to run a ftp server on a local mchine and fw port 21 it does not work
So something work but iz frustrating compared to former router i had running for years

Re: DGN2200 Port Forwarding Not Working
i have been dinking around with this for hours.
conclusion;
port forwarding the DGN2200 SUCKS!
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netgear/DGN2200/TeamSpeak_2_Server.htm
shows a DGN2200 menu for port forwarding
mine does not have it.
where did it go?
------------------------------
so, as i typed this,
i went back into 192.168.0.1
to double check a setting in Firewall Rules
and noticed that some entries i had made in
Services>Add>Add Services area
now showed in the
Firewall Rules>Inbound Services>Add>Inbound Services drop down menu
after adding them to both Inbound and Outbound
the ports are open.
--------:D--------
needless to say, i feel a little stupid,
but then again, i feel that the process
is more than a little convoluted
and less than user friendly.
the opening line of the
Services>Block Services Help column is
Block Services allows you to block Internet access...
this lead me to think that the Services page
was for Blocking Services ports,
not adding entries for Port Forwarding.
nowhere on the Help page
is Port Forwarding mentioned.
IMHO, a simple Port Forward Menu would be nice.
it would save a lot of time and aggravation.
one more thing,
any idea why i get a blank page
when i go to;
Documentation>user manual (pdf)
first, its black, then it goes to white
both pages are blank
i am using an older version of Adobe Reader
well, i guess that's about enough ranting for now.
i have one more week to decide
if i keep the DGN2200 or return it.

What's the deal here?
I fi try and create a rule in the firewall / service on the same port where I had previously port forwarded, it tells me its in use. So in my mind , its still there but the menu option is gone?

Re: DGN2200 Port Forwarding Not Working
Same here.
First used V1.0.0.36_7.0.20 and successfully used port forwarding at :20.
Upgraded to V1.0.0.36_7.0.36, and any settings regarding my :20 were lost. Set the details again, but the router kept blocking the port. Log said "packet accepted" but not much else happened.
The solution was not straight forward. First, downgraded to V1.0.0.36_7.0.20 again. No luck in the first instance, despite the same settings as used previously.
Fortunately, with a configuration file saved earlier this year, got the DGN2200 to do port forwarding again. It's noteworthy that none of the options on the GUI changed, the reading the .cfg must have done something to a setting that's not available through the web interface. Hope that helps.

wait wait wait, run this by me again?
Im having the same problem.
Could you kindly explain how to portforward exactly? I am not new to this but ever since the latest update (V1.0.0.36_7.0.36), I have been up-in-arms.:(
Something about adding it to the Firewall Rules? Always Allow im guessing?
Cheers

Re: DGN2200 Port Forwarding Not Working
Looks like there is no support from Netgear regarding the problem.
I have the same problems and are higly frustrated.
I want to setup telnet access port 23 to my Unix Server. (Not a first time attempt, my other cleints routers like Billion etc work fine)
Did all the settings, can ping the router vi dyndns host name, but the port forwarding keeps on being ignored.

Re: DGN2200 Port Forwarding Not Working
Hi @Arismac,
Please upgrade your DGN2200 to the latest firmware according to your model version.
http://support.netgear.com/product/DGN2200v1
http://support.netgear.com/product/DGN2200v3
http://support.netgear.com/product/DGN2200v4
On the back of the modem router, use the end of a paper clip or some other similar object to press and hold the Reset button for at least 7 seconds.
The modem router returns to the factory settings
Let us know if you still cannot configure the ports
