DGND3700v1 Emailing Logs
My router is a few weeks old and has the latest s/w version installed. (1.0.0.17) I am trying to set it up to email logs either to Demon or Gmail, but neither seem to receive the emails. I see that there have been a number of discussions concerning this problem, but have not spotted the solution. Is there a solution, please?
TIA, Nick

Thanks. Unless I misunderstood your reply, both Demon and Gmail use Port 25 for their SMTP servers.

I use 465/995 for gmail
Gmails has port25 /FAQ on their site but also there is authentication on router issues

Re: DGND3700v1 Emailing Logs
Just to add
sending logs to Demon.co.uk gives the following line in the log:-
[email failed] AUTH command used when not advertised, Thursday, Sep 13,2012 15:26:47
and sending logs to gmail.com gives the following line in the log:-
[email failed] Must issue a STARTTLS command first. fb20sm20734886wid.1, Thursday, Sep 13,2012 15:15:57

Re: DGND3700v1 Emailing Logs
DGND3700 and 3700v2 fw does not deal with TLS. Of course, more mail relays require TLS every day.
There seem to be a bunch of NETGEAR router features that are "spec sheet only" features--look good on the spec sheet but aren't actually usable in the real world.

Thanks Dick_W; that is a bit of a bummer 😞

Does your ISP Demon require SSL/TLS?

Re: DGND3700v1 Emailing Logs
No, but it does require authentication and I think that it may be that that fails. (DGDN3700 cannot handle SSL/TLS, which seems to cover nearly all servers, such as gmail, hotmail, etc.)

Re: DGND3700v1 Emailing Logs
Correction to the above:- SSL is required with the new email system at Demon to which I am being migrated in 7 days time.

Re: DGND3700v1 Emailing Logs
As what Dick said, DGND3700v1 does not support SSL/TLS. On your case, have you tried unchecking the authentication box to check if it will work? Unfortunately, you will need to use another server since your ISP will implement SSL/TLS. Does it say on the spec sheet of the DGND3700v1 that it supports SSL/TLS?
