LOST 2.4GHz signal on N600 Wireless Dual Band Modem Router
Hello All,
I have a N600 Wireless Dual Band Modem Router. The 5 GHz is broadcasting O.K., but nothing from the 2.4 GHz. It stopped after I did an upgrade to the modem's firmware. The homepage on the router is also saying wi-fi is OFF. Can anybody advise on what I need to do to turn the 2.4 GHz and the wi-fi back on?

Hi - N600 wifi is a standard. Can you provide router product name? It should be on the bottom, or side of router.

Re: LOST 2.4GHz signal on N600 Wireless Dual Band Modem Router
A similar thing happened to me after the last firmware upgrade also. I have a N600 Dual Band Router WNDR3400v3. I think my download was defective, because I just used the wireless connection as always, instead of hooking up a DSL line like they recommend. It should have been a clue when the first install attempt came back with an error message, I went to the website and forced another one which finished in a weird way. Yeah, I know I was dumb! I didn't notice that my upgrade notification was for firmware and not software, but I probably wouldn't have remembered to hook up the DSL anyway. Lesson learned.
The 2.4 Network shows up and appears to be working, but I cannot connect to it from any computer. The DSL slot also does not give me a live connection, I have to bypass the Netgear router and plug into my main modem instead to get an internet connection. The 5G works fine, but I have some older laptops and a first gen Chromecast that can't use it.
When I go to the Netgear admin site, it tells me my firmware is up todate. Is there a way to downgrade to the previous version? And then try to upgrade again? Since I can't use the Netgear device wired to do it, what would be the best way?

Re: LOST 2.4GHz signal on N600 Wireless Dual Band Modem Router
Well, I think I've pretty much answered my own question at
http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/23960
- says-
Note: Do not use a computer that is connected wirelessly to the router to upload the firmware. A wireless firmware update might corrupt the firmware of the router rendering it unusable."
Sounds like I'm pretty much screwed! Oh well, I did get two years of use out of it! Might keep it around as an emergency back-up, at least the 5G still works. Sure would be nice if the Netgear Genie had a better sized warning right next to the Firmware update announcement, or better yet, made you go to a page with a big red warning not to do it wirelessly before they would display the download button.

Re: LOST 2.4GHz signal on N600 Wireless Dual Band Modem Router
Hello adrianave
Make sure your plugged into the modem via Ethernet and then try to use www.routerlogin.net or 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 and if that still does not work try to do another factory reset on the modem buy holding down the pin hole reset button for 10 sec then try to log into the router agian. Hope to hear your feedback.

Re: LOST 2.4GHz signal on N600 Wireless Dual Band Modem Router
I am having the same problem-no signal for 2.4 GHZ, only 5 GHZ. Can't use et, as my new laptop has no ethernet port. How can I get 2.4 back, as some of our devices can't use 5 GHZ?
