Netgear wireless and Bonjour issue
I've been troubleshooting a problem accessing my iTunes library from my Win10 PC via the LAN to an iPhone running the Remote App. I've had this setup for years with little trouble but recently it's been more than a little frustrating.
After removing my library from the remote app, checking that everything was signed in correctly and that everything was running the latest versions of everything, I was able to connect temporarily, only to see it drop again a day or so later.
After doing some more investigation I'm certain the problem lies with the wireless connection served up from my Netgear DGN2200.
My house is quite large and I have always had problems keeping reliable wireless connections as I get further away from the router. As a reuslt, I purchased an EOP wireless repeater and a number of devices connect to this. I noticed my iPhone that I regularly use to connect via the Remote app was connected via wireless directly to the Netgear router. As soon as I removed this and connected to the wireless repeater, I could see my iTunes library. No playing around with any other setting, it worked instantaneously.
Without any doubt there is a problem with the wireless configuration on this Netgear device and it wouldn't surprise me if many other devices in the Netgear stable have the same problem.
This is not the type of problem I would have ever expected from a reputable manufacturer such as Netgear but it will certainly have me thinking twice before I buy from them again.

Re: Netgear wireless and Bonjour issue
Just discovered a similar problem with the WN3000RPv3 wi-fi range extender (firmware is the most recent V1.0.2.66).
I moved my computer and printer out of range of my main, non-Netgear router, and so they are both on my wi-fi network via the Netgear range extender, and now they can't reliably communicate via Bonjour.
I can still add the printer as a generic IP printer but I can't scan and can't use the proprietary management utility without Bonjour. Everything was working fine when both devices were connected to the non-Netgear router.
This thread seems related...

Re: Netgear wireless and Bonjour issue
I should probably add that upgrading my Netgear range extender's firmware to v1.0.2.66 helped a little... before the upgrade my Mac couldn't discover the printer via Bonjour at all. Now the Mac can discover and add the printer, and printing seems to work so far, but scanning still doesn't work (so I'm no better off than if I had just added it as a generic IP printer).

Re: Netgear wireless and Bonjour issue
It's so bad. It's either intentional or incompetent. Either way, Netgear need to seriously understand the Bonjour protocol and programme their devices to work with it. I'd hate to think how many thousands of users have given up using apple devices properly if they have Netgear network appliances.
Netgear should be ashamed!
