Re: Nighthawk D7000 2.4Ghz WiFi issues
Further to my earlier post I have unfortunate news to report on my testing of beta/trial FW V58.
The D7000's good run on V58 lasted for 57+ hours then 5G dropped out!
Extract from my log:
11 Jan 2018
07:08 still all good. Reached 57+ hours.
0900 All devices shown as connected to 5G cannot access the internet!
The D7000 LEDs all showed normal operation.
All 2.4 devices that are connected can access the internet
The 5G devices consist of two iPads, two android phones, one chromecast and one iPhone.
Turned off WiFi via the switch on the top of the D7000
Turned on WiFi via the switch on the top of the D7000
All 2.4G and 5G devices reconnected and were able to access the internet.
So back to the engineers to solve that one.

What does the log file say?
I hope you can understand the log.

Well done Case850. The ISP had changed the SMTP address and this was one I failed to change. That should get rid of the email errors. Thanks

What device is 192.168.0.4 on your network?
It is a NAS. It is a Buffalo Link Station. It is the data backup device for all our computers. It is also our DLNA media server. It has Web Access Service enabled to allow remote access from iOS and Android Apps to the media. Web Access needs UPnP.

@Case850 wrote:When was the last time you ran a Virus & Malware scan on the NAS?
With much embarasment I say never! You stirred me to investigate and as far as I can see the Buffalo does not have an antivirus capability and unlike the Netgear ReadyNAS I have for system backup, the Buffalo does not have the capability to have Apps. On looking at my antivirus software, Zonealarm Extreme Security it appears not to check network drives. I have just started a manually started scan (it's a right click option in Windows) of one of the folders on the NAS and I will work through all the folders this way. Thanks for the heads up and guidance. I have a licence for Malwarbytes so will see what it can do with network drives.

Re: Nighthawk D7000 2.4Ghz WiFi issues
UPDATE:
I haven't had any problems for 2 or 3 days.
The only change I've done is moved more devices to the 5Ghz (there's is now anywhere from 4 to 7 devices on each frequency).
I have the D7000 v.2 (firmware is 44, still can't update it to 45 either automatically or manually). I'll reset the device next week when no one else is at home hassling me about why the internet is down.

Two weeks ago I bought a brand new D7000v2 and am experiencing 4 problems (the first 3 were the same on the version 1):
- Internet drops (orange/red light)
- wifi drops of both 2.4 & 5 Ghz (internet light is white)
- will not recognize my "qwest" account for automatically setting up
- can not upgrade firmware, so I'm stuck at V1.0.0.44_1.0.1
I can go one or two days without a problem, or the need to reboot 3+ times in a day. I'm fairly tech knowledgable, and I was blaming my problems on CenturyLink until my online searching brought me this forum!
Other notes: Using Parental Controls (via OpenDNS). I installed a Ring Doorbell in November. We have Chromecast too, but have it plugged into a controlled power device (it's only on if the tv is on). Besides having a college student at home in mid-December, nothing else has changed in our internet use/devices.

You cannot use firmware for the D7000v1 on the D7000v2 and vice versa.
Different hardware, different chipset.
There are fewer reports of issues with the D7000v2. Maybe because it is newer.
The D7000v2 has a different issue that is unrelated to the wifi gotcha on the D7000v1.

Re: Nighthawk D7000 2.4Ghz WiFi issues
Today I received an email from Matt advising that the engineers had recommended replacing my D7000. I told him that I returned it under warranty, obtained a refund and purchased another brand which is working perfectly so far.
This indicates to me that the issue may not be resolvable by firmware updates alone.

Re: Nighthawk D7000 2.4Ghz WiFi issues
Latest Update on D7000 as of 5PM January 11, 2017
The latest update on D7000 is we are seeing good results from the trial firmware 58 that we have in the lab and given to the community users who have been helping us test through this process. Based on the results so far we are moving the firmware to the next step in our process which will get the firmware further in our formal release process. We want to thank the users that have been helping us test and look forward to them providing additional information on the progress of their testing.
Thanks, Dave

Re: Nighthawk D7000 2.4Ghz WiFi issues
This morning, after more then 48h, I found all my 5GHz devices dropped out.
I do not check about the 2.4GHz devices 'cose I need as quick as possible the Wifi connection.
Turned off and on the modem, all become ok.

Re: Nighthawk D7000 2.4Ghz WiFi issues
Have you reported this to Netgear? Be interesting to see what they say. I've been running .58 for over 48 hours and not had any issues. Just found my Amazon order showing I bought my D7000 in November 2015.

Re: Nighthawk D7000 2.4Ghz WiFi issues
Preamble. I have the .58 beta firmware.
Another crash of 5GHz AP.
Just this evening, i'd liked to see a movie from DLNA server in my NAS, but had find the smartphone disconnected from 5GHz WiFi. It was trying to reconnect, but the modem refused the connection.
Tried to connect the 2.4GHz and it works fine.
Restarted the modem from Genie App, and the 5GHz became alive.
Now it seems that the issue moved to 5GHz from 2.4GHz

I found the log, but as I thought, there isn't anything about the crash.
Next crash, is the first thing that I will do.
Hope to read it close to the event, 'cause the buffer is very small.
