Unable to play files from Readyshare on D7000 modem router

I have a 2TB Seagate HDD that contains numerous video files. I have set up the D7000 Readyshare to enable me to view these files across my home network. I can view the Readyshare folder on explorer (Windows 10), but when I go to play one of the files through VLC it keeps stating that it cannot open the MRL. I tried opeing a file on the Windows film and photo app, but again it won't play any of the files.

Having looked on the net I can't find any answers for the specific problem.

I am currently using the latest firware for the D7000 according to the Netgear site (ending in .44)

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you find a solution to this?  I'm having the same problem with my D7000, newley replacing a R6300v2 which worked perfectly on Readyshare with the same drive and files.  Current firmware is installed.
