Internet slowed to a crawl this afternoon. Did a reset and for a few minutes things improved, then WIFI dissappeared. (We can't even see any of the neighbor's wifi.) I have six green lights when we usually see five. No red lights.
By coincidence, I have another N300 (ADSL2). Set that one up but had the same problem.
Called my ISP and we went through everything with their support. The conclusion was that it's a Netgear problem. Went to routerlogin.net, but don't know what or how to make changes there. Advice?

I didn't bother with my computer info because I have a PC, my husband has an Apple and we have two TVs that operate through our wifi and none of them were displaying a single wifi account to connect to, so I knew it wasn't a computer problem. I don't know who or how things got fixed but this is now a completed discussion as far as I'm concerned. Thanks.

From what?

At least one of us is confused. Your neighbor's wireless network is
gone, and you think that the problem lies with your own router?

Or that the problem lies with all the routers in your neigborhood?
What's the one common element in all these situations? That's where
I'd look for the problem.

Not my conclusion.

Read the User Manual? Report what you see on the Router's status Web
page? Try a different (working) computer or other device? Try a wired
connection instead of wireless?
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.

Re: Wifi suddenly gone, but can access internet via cable n300 dgn2200V3 ADSL2
I thought I was being quite clear: No wifi. When I search for wifi to connect to via the taskbar, I usually see mine, and several neighbors wifi icons. Last night there were none, nada, zero.
Yet my ISP said they could see I was connected, which I clearly wasn't.
In any case, about 10 minutes after I wrote the inquiry here, everything went back to normal and I have a better connection than I've had for the past four weeks.

You were wrong.

Using your (unspecified) computer, you could see no wireless
networks. Do you think that _all_ the wireless routers in your
neighborhood died simultaneously? Or, just perhaps, could the problem
lie with your computer? I know which possibility sounds more likely to
me.

Your ISP can see whether or not your modem+router is connected (to
them). They generally can't tell if any clients are connected to your
router.

Call your neighbors, and explain to them how you fixed the problem
with their wireless network. I'm sure that they'll be grateful.
