nighthawk D7000 frozen unable to factory reset
We purchased the Nighthawk D7000 two days ago now it has completely frozen.
It is showing the 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz and USB 3.0 lights continually, I have tried the reset by holding a pin in the reset button up to 20 seconds without any reset.
I have disconnected and reconnected after 30 minutes and I am still unable to reset the wonderful piece of machinery.
I would appreicate any constructive advise short of a sledgehammer please.
Sincerely
Darren

Re: nighthawk D7000 frozen unable to factory reset
What does the power LED look like? White? Flashing?
Then there is this:
- Press reset for 30 seconds
- Keep pressing reset while removing power
- Keep pressing reset for another 30 seconds while apply power
That's a sledgehammer version of the reset.

Re: nighthawk D7000 frozen unable to factory reset
Thank you for the advice I will check it out tonight and let you know how it goes.
The lights are a solid white.
I liked the modem when it was running as it trippled my wifi speed so I hope this resolves the issue.
Thank you Michawlkenward for the fast reply!

Re: nighthawk D7000 frozen unable to factory reset
Hi
I tried the sledgehammer fix as suggested however I still have the same problem.
The moem rebooted with the same solid white lights for 2.4g, 5g and USB stuck on!
I think I will take it back to the shop to exchange for another model, Quiet disappointed may have to go with TPlink or Dlink.
Regards
Darren

There's one more (still bigger) hammer, if you're in the mood: the
last-ditch/emergency TFTP recovery scheme:
https://kb.netgear.com/22688/
I know nothing, but some reports here suggest that, on Windows, the
built-in command-line TFTP client works better than the "tftp2.exe"
program shown there.

Could just be a dud one. It can happen. If everyone had the same problem then there would be even more reports here.
Do check that everything is properly wired up, with the right plugs in the right sockets.
