Did you mean the WNDR3400 and if so which version?
If the wndr3400 log into the router and go to wireless under wireless you find where you set ssid, passphrease, and security setting where you set for wpa 2 and save the changes here a link for the wndr3400v2 close the wndr3400v1 http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/WNDR3400V2/WNDR3400v2_UM_EN.pdf
I hope that this helps the manual shows genie for setting up thr router genie is not needed just log in by 192.168.1.1 and user name and password to access the control gui of the router.

That did the trick, The settings were right there but sometimes we don't see it.
