Re: Netgear genie + webpage Nighthawk

If Netgear designed it this way.......... oke, it's a choice.

But i find it not sensible.

Scrolling it the whole time is a security breach.

I often use netgear genie to see who is connected.

Ipadres, Mac address, etc.

So netgear genie webpage is open on my laptop.

If users can access the netgear genie tool (by login) they can also change the password if necessary.

Again, scrolling it on a top webpage ...................????????

Re: Netgear genie + webpage Nighthawk

Hi @Dorus,

The Wi-Fi password is only viewable if you are logged in on the NETGEAR Genie app/program and the case is the same with the UI on the browser. The reason for this is accessibility in the event that you forget the Wi-Fi password, it will be retrievable without resetting the device.

Re: Netgear genie + webpage Nighthawk

I don't follow you.

If the session (Genie webpage) is expired, the wifi password is stil scrolling in de webbrowser screen.

I understand that, for security reasons the password of Genie webpage will expire after a While.

But why is the wifi password still vissible.

And beside of that there no need to scroll the wifi password at this point.

Re: Netgear genie + webpage Nighthawk

Hi @Dorus,

The Genie webpage is designed to make the Wi-Fi password visible since most users modify it but in the event that the user forgets, it will be easily available and readable just by logging in to the page. We recommend logging out of the Genie webpage if you are done configuring your settings so that the information on the page will no longer be visible to anyone not unless you access the page again.

Re: Netgear genie + webpage Nighthawk

Hi @Dorus,

You always have the option to logout either on the browser UI or the NETGEAR Genie program so that others will no longer have access to the router settings not unless they know your router password. So, I would also suggest changing your router password as additional security.
