Opening ports in ProSafe SRX5308

Hi all,

I'm using a program called Livestream Studio for live video productions and have been instructed to open these ports in my Netgear ProSafe SRX5308 Firewall:

These ports are:

  • TCP 80 (HTTP)
  • TCP 443 (HTTPS)
  • TCP 1935 (RTMP)
  • UDP 2088

The Firewall is sitting on our public IP and I've set up NAT routing to create a 192.168 . . . network in our office.  It is the only DHCP server on the network, so everything runs through it.

Any help someone can provide would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Kevin

    musikev,

    Welcome to the community! :)

Kindly read pages 149-151 of the SRX5308 user manual here about setting up LAN WAN Inbound Service Rules (Port Forwarding).

Check this link I found online and use it as your guide to open ports in the SRX5308.

      Dane,

Thanks for your reply.  I went through both the manual and step by step instructions multiple times.  Looks like I did everything correctly the first time, but I redid it all anyway and I still see that the port is closed.  Is it possible that this router doesn't support Port 1935?  I have used the same methods to open Port 20101 with success.

Looking forward to any additional insight you might have.

      Thanks again,

      Kevin

    musikev,

Just to verify.  If you will check port 1935 using an online port scanner tool just like here, the port is still closed?  If yes, is the SRX5308 the main router in your network setup?

Confirmed, the port is closed using online port checking tools.  And the firewall is the main router.

      Thanks,

      Kevin

        musikev,

As far as I have checked, there is no issue on the SRX5308 about having port 1935 unable to open.  What is the current firmware of the SRX5308?  If its not yet the latest version, I suggest you to update it.  The latest SRX5308 firmware is v4.3.5-3 and you can download it here

        Regards,

    musikev,

Let us try this.  Kindly perform a factory reset on the SRX5308 and reconfigure the settings from scratch including Port Forwarding (LAN WAN Inbound Rules).  Then, check if the same problem will occur.  Make sure that TCP port 1935 (RTMP) and UDP port 2088 are both configured as well on the Livestream Studio.

    Regards,
