dot1x host-mode multi-host

I tried to find answers here and on other websites that discuss 802.1x, but didn't find anything. So I am popping the question:

Is there a OS version on any managed switch model that has implementation for 802.1x,  where multiple hosts are attached to a single switch port through an Ethernet hub or another access layer switch?

the cisco equivalent: dot1x host-mode multi-host

thanks.

Razvan.

    Hi dulfrazvan,

    Welcome to the community!

Netgear Managed Switch support multi-host scenario, but with different behavior via set different Control-Mode.

    1. Set port control-mode to 'Port-based(default value)': All clients can access the network once there is one client authenticated success, all other clients need not to be authenticated again. But there is 'max user' limit per port.

    2. Set port control-mode to 'Mac-based':  Even if there is a client authenticated success, other clients also cannot access network, only the authticated client can access network. That mean every client need to be authenticated through by the Server.

    3. If there is special client(printer, fax machine) that not support dot1x authentication, the port control-mode must be set to 'Mac-based', and the authentication username and password should be the Hardware address of the machine, we define this mode as 'Mac-by-pass'.

    Thanks,
