Parental Controls and Invalid Certificate Error - CBR750
With parental controls enabled, all devices connected to the router report “untrusted or invalid certificate” when attempting to access the internet. Disabling parental controls on the router clears the error and then re-enabling allows devices to access normally . All devices report the error every morning as long as parental controls are enabled. Firmware v4.6.14.4. The certificate error is associated with Circle Labs and appears to have too long of an active period - 20 years. How can we get an updated, trusted and valid certificate?

Re: Parental Controls and Invalid Certificate Error - CBR750
Hello @Azevan,
I understand that you are having certificate error when parental controls are enabled on your CBR750.
I just have a few questions for you:
- Are you getting "untrusted or invalid certificate" when you attempt to use google.com or does it occur at the devices Wi-Fi settings?
- What are the operating systems of the devices that report this issue (e.g Windows OS/ MacOS/iOS/iPadOS/Android)?
Best,
Kevin

The message is appearing on devices running iOS and MacOS when attempting to access any websites. Attached is the screenshot of untrusted certificate.

To clarify, the browsers report a site redirect is attempting to steal your information and local host is using untrusted certificate. See another attached screenshot after clicking “show certificate”.

Re: Parental Controls and Invalid Certificate Error - CBR750
Hello Azevan,
Thank you for providing the requested information!
Please turn on parental controls, then reset the network settings on your iOS and macOS systems and rejoin your Orbi network.
Please keep me updated to the progress on this issue!
Best,
Kevin

Re: Parental Controls and Invalid Certificate Error - CBR750
This suggestion didn’t work. This morning again every WiFi enabled device trying to connect to the internet gives an error. TV, phones, computers, gaming consoles, etc. Disabling parental controls on the router resolves internet issues immediately. After a couple hours, parental controls can be re-enabled without issue until the next morning when the cycle repeats. The attached screenshot is an example of the error messages received. Everything points back to the untrusted certificate issued by the router included in previous posts.
