Enable Remote Access Fails - "Incorrect request format, try again."
Hi
After a wifi router reset my Netgear Genie App is having issues with Remote Access - Incorrect request format. Prior to the reset, the Genie app was able to remotely access the router.
Genie App can locally connect to R700 with no issues
However, issues when enabling the remote access
- Click Remote Access
- Credentials entered under the Remote tab (same user id password that was being used before)
- Enable Remote Access (sliding the button)
- Error Message = Enable Failed. Incorrect request format, try again.
Specs:
NightHawk R7000
Firmware: V1.0.9.18_1.2.27
Genie App Version: 3.1.44
iPhone 6S iOS 11.2.5

Re: Enable Remote Access Fails - "Incorrect request format, try again."
A while ago I logged it to web interface of the modem and I noticed the remote management is on. So I thought genie app is using different port/interface to connect remotely and I disabled it. That’s when this problem started to happen. I noticed the genie app remote management got turn off too and I can’t re-enable it using the app. So I logged it to web interface , then changed the port of the remote logging to something else other than default and then Turn on the remote management and power cycle the modem. After that the genie app was able to connect remotely again. All genie app is doing it’s getting the IP and port from the Netgear server when u are trying to login from outside network and then when u click on your router picture in the app it connects to same port and IP sepecified in that remote management setting on web interface. Hope this resolve other people problem as well.
