Netgear Genie not working
I see there was a topic that seemed to mirror my issue but it did not seem to be solved.
I have a 6200v2 router.
When I try to use the Netgear Genie I get the following:

Re: Netgear Genie not working
Hi @jarrodj609,
1. What is the version of the NETGEAR Genie program?
2. What is the firmware version of the router?
3. Is this computer wired to the router?

Dexter

Re: Netgear Genie not working
Hi @jarrodj609,
I suggest updating the router's firmware to the latest version (1.0.3.10) then reset and reconfigure the router. You may refer to the links below for the steps.

Re: Netgear Genie not working
Hi Dexter JB,
Thanks for the prompt replies.
I manually updated to the latest version (1.0.3.10).
I uninstalled then reinstalled NETGEAR Genie.
When I try to access parental controls or router settings through NETGEAR Genie it still is not working. My parental controls are "stuck" on a filtering level that effectively blocks adult sites but I cannot adjust the filtering level if necessary and I cannot set-up time restrictions.

Re: Netgear Genie not working
Hi @jarrod609,
1. Did you perform a factory reset after a successful firmware update?
2. Have you tried using another device (another computer, smartphone, tablet)?

Re: Netgear Genie not working
Hi Dexter JB,
If "factory reset" is the small reset button that I need a paperclip to actuate, yes. 🙂
So I did try to use another computer that's connected to my network via wifi. NOTHING is filtered. I adjusted the filter settings on the https://netgear.opendns.com/ site but it is not working on other devices. This is strange.

Re: Netgear Genie not working
Hi @jarrodj609,
1. Were you able to login to your OpenDNS account through the NETGEAR Genie program on that computer?
2. Please check the DNS values on the router UI and make sure they are set to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.

Dexter

Re: Netgear Genie not working
HI Dexter JB,
1. I'll try setting up NETGEAR Genie on the other computer. I didn't think of that. Still, it seems that the NETGEAR Genie program installed on the laptop would interact with the router the same as on the other computer with the ethernet cable, wouldn't it?
2. The DNS values are set as you stated.
As of now I can no longer change the settings via the netgear.opendns.com site. I'm not sure why that stopped working.

Re: Netgear Genie not working
Hi @jarrodj609,
1. Yes, it should and this is for us to isolate the issue. May I know if the behavior is the same with the other computer?
2. Good to know. Do your other devices have static DNS set on them?
3. I have performed my own test and the site does work for me. Are you getting an error message?
Regards,
Dexter
