A couple of things that would be helpful to know. What is the model number of your Wi-Fi router and what is the brand name and model number of the modem/ONT that is connected upstream of your router.
The term "default password" means very little until your determine to what.
The default password to the Netgear user interface on the router?
The default password to the Wi-Fi?
The password to your Netgear account you established when you registered your router for warranty?
Attempting to set up and configure a new router via the Nighthawk mobile application is a challenge best avoided.
The most successful setup process is to use a web browser with a real computer direct connected to the router with an Ethernet cable. Wi-Fi will work for the connection if you do not have the Ethernet cable option. When you first access the user interface, scroll down and select the option with no mobile device available.
