r7000 netgear genie openDNS parental controls not working

new setup of an r7000 I've installed netgear genie, downloaded newest firmware, created an openDNS account and set the parental controls to high.  It seems to have no filtering effect on social media, porn or anything else.  

what the heck am I doing wrong,  as my user name suggests I'm not really good at this.

Hi @routernoob_dad,

1. Does the issue happen to all devices connected to the network?

2. Please check the DNS values on the router's UI. Open a browser > www.routerlogin.net > login > Advanced > Setup > Internet Setup

I have the exact same problem.  DSN entries are correct, account setup correct in opendns, and even Genie is able to administer the parental control settings and says they are enabled.  All devices in the house, R7500V2.  This seems to me like a defect in the OpenDNS account, but I keep opening tickets with opendns support to no avail, they just don't respond.  Is there another way to contact them where I can get service?  I know this isn't your direct problem, but hoping you had heard of something.

I tried to change the DNS value to "Get Automatically from ISP" and get this pop up message 

The the two DNS are pre-plugged in, what are they suppose to be?

I've been relying on server logs and printouts from the service provider, but so far the netgenie is worthless at preventing access.

The only support channel that we have with OpenDNS is also through their website.

Hi @routernoob_dad,

You will not be able to change the DNS values to the ISP values if you have Parental Controls enabled since it will use the the one's from OpenDNS. This allows OpenDNS to filter the Internet traffic that will go through your router.
