Difference between Geofilter and the upcoming ‘Geofencing’ in the XR1000.

I have the XR500 and use the Geofilter for my Destiny 2 gaming. I have my clan mates added to my whitelist in the Geofilter and it is working well. I am considering upgrading to the new XR1000 with the new DumaOS 3.0. I see it has Geofencing NOT Geofiltering. I assume it’s a better version of the Geofilter but I’m worried that the fencing will not Allow me to do what I currently do with the Geofilter.
Can someone confirm for me if I could just use the Geofencing the same way I use the filter? Or Will I only be able to choose a certain area and fence that area in but not be able to use my friends in my whitelist.
Sorry I may not be making total sense. Please bear with me.

You have both options available, can either use the traditional radius or the fence. You can still add your friends to your whitelist so everything will still work as expected.
