New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR450)

Hi all,

We have another firmware for you to test. Thank you for your patience so far. I don't have a change log available at the moment but I assume you would like to try it now vs waiting any longer. Once I have the change log I will update this post with it.

I would highly recommend you do a factory reset after upgrading for the freshest installation.

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR450)

Ok, got v108 loaded over v106.

First item that stuck out at me was how long it took for any indication of the factory reset to be seen on the front panel LEDs. With a wired PC and MS Edge browser connected, I use the ERASE function under Advanced/Admin/Backup settings menu. Selected the ERASE button and the browser said it was in progress. I watched the front LED panel and seemed to take 30-45seconds before the LEDs changed and went out. I'm used to seeing something with in about 10-15seconds usually.

2nd item is that I noticed is that I can't access the routers web page using 192.168.1.1, I have to use routerlogin.com in Edge. I tried both HTTP and HTTPS and Edge says it can't access the page with 192.168.1.1. However If I use Opera GX browser, it logs into 192.168.1.1 just fine. Something Edge isn't handling correctly with newer FW versions? I noticed this on a NG R7960P as well recently.

More testing to come.

Can't comment on how long it is taking for the hardware to recognize the reset, perhaps @TimChang can advise?

If you normally use edge then clear the browser cache/cookies and see if you can access using the IP then please.

ok, problem cleared by browser cache clear. Edge works at 192.168.1.1. Odd that the broswer gets stuck until the cache is cleared.

Most likely because something changed on that front and you couldn't load it properly because it was loading the previous version from cache, glad that's working now.

Did you factory reset the XR router after applying v108 and setup from scratch?

Can you determine if this issue can be narrowed down to just QoS or just IPv6? Or is it both?

Port foward seems to be broken. I can get what I need working with UPnP enabled though.

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR450)

What is it you're trying to port forward and how did you make the rule? What is the internal/external port shown in the UPnP entry? - Mirror that.

@Retired_Member this is the latest so far. Did you do a factory reset after upgrading? If not please do so as that should get rid of issues. What issues are you having currently?

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR450)

So is the REBOOT option not supported while the XR450 is in AP Mode with v108 FW loaded?

Screen Shot 2020-12-26 at 7.14.34 PM.png

Happens in Safari an Opera GX on Mac. I haven't check Windows. I presume it maybe the same.

Would be a good feature to enabled if thats possible for AP mode.

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR450)

@FURRYe38 having it in AP mode basically disables DumaOS entirely so you would need to reboot from the Netgear settings.

Ok, Understand now. I forgot to look under settings. Smiley Embarassed

However, another interesting item I found on this v108 FW. I notice that the reported 2.4Ghz connection rate being seen is 800Mpbs?

Screen Shot 2020-12-26 at 11.03.47 PM.png

I thought 2.4Ghz was 600Mpbs for the Xr450?

• AC2400 (600Mbps@2.4GHz-64QAM support+1733Mbps@5GHz 11ac)†

I need to get my wifi bridge out and check this to see what the actual rate is...

Good fine @FURRYe38 do please check that out and see what the rate is, I'll let the NG team know.

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR450)

Ok so I tested this on my ASUS GT-AX11000 in wireless bridge mode. It's only seeing 600Mpbs on 2.4Ghz:

Screen Shot 2020-12-27 at 10.46.17 PM.png

Getting 1733Mpbs on 5Ghz:

Screen Shot 2020-12-27 at 10.51.17 PM.png

Actual speed testing with the XR450 connected to a NetDuma R2 router and the GT-11000 doesn't seem to result in good speeds on a 1Gb ISP service.

I had QOS enabled on the R2 for this test:

Screen Shot 2020-12-27 at 11.08.23 PM.png

I disabled QOS on the R2 then tested again:

Screen Shot 2020-12-27 at 11.12.18 PM.png

Both test bell curves started out going fast then tapered off to a slower speed at each test.

ASUS device was placed about 8 feet from the XR450.

I have a EAX80 and R7800 that supports 1733Mbps that I can try tomorrow for comparison testing.

Thanks a lot that's really helpful, I have passed over to NG so when they're back from the holidays they can look into it properly.

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.108 (XR450)

Sounds good. Probably just a UI change for the connection rate. Smiley Wink
