Re: Connection issues XR500

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Is Smart Connect enabled?

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or may not be needed) and WMM.

Re: Connection issues XR500

Sounds like you have Smart Connect disabled, is that the case? Use a WiFi analyzer to find the least congested channels and change to those.

Re: Connection issues XR500

have you tried the new 3.0 firmware?

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-Pro-Gaming-DumaOS-3-0/Latest-firmware-download/m-p/197692...

If you try it, after installing the firmware, I'd factory reset the router and then do a clean install (not from backup) for the best results.

Re: Connection issues XR500

Hi it's connected to a Huawei HG612 modem I'm UK based BT is my ISP.

2.4g was on auto NOW changed to 6.

5g is on 44.

Smart connect is enabled with both settings turned on

I have a couple of neighbours with the internet as I live on a terrace.

Re: Connection issues XR500

Hi how safe is it as I don't want to brick the router as I have no other way of getting online?

Re: Connection issues XR500

I would recommend disabling Smart Connect and connecting to each individually. Try that first, then you can try the beta if you wish to, shouldn't brick your router at all. Yes that is the latest.

Re: Connection issues XR500

Is it only the laptop with issues? All the other devices connect/work?

If so, i'd be looking at the wireless chipset in the laptop and not the router.

Re: Connection issues XR500

The laptop is fine afaik I've uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers for the wireless adapter the strange thing is it has connected once or twice so don't really know what the issue is as it shows the network but when it connects it says connected no Internet or says secured.

Re: Connection issues XR500

Your ISP modem has a built in router and wifi. What mode is it operating in? Modem only or router. If router mode, This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem.

Re: Connection issues XR500

It is in modem only what's annoying is that it has been working flawlessly for over a year its only since the firmware update its playing up I.e wifi dropouts alot & the laptop doesn't connect anymore over wifi.really frustrating & the wife isn't best pleased either lol

Re: Connection issues XR500

Give your devices reserved IPs in LAN Settings as that may help. On the PC open command prompt, type ipconfig /release wait a few seconds then do ipconfig /renew and see if it sustains a connection.

Re: Connection issues XR500

It sounds like the bug I'm looking into with Netgear at the moment that is to do with disconnections most likely caused by DHCP. In Settings > Monitoring > Connection Status what does lease obtained/expired say?
