Just got ATT Fiber installed, can the XR700 accept fiber directly through SFP+ port?
ATT installed a BGW320-505 combo unit. I would like to keep using my XR700, but Im curious to know if anyone has successfully ran fiber directly to the SFP+ port of the XR700? ATT left an extra SFP module for me to try. So far, when trying this, I receive a "Make sure SFP is connected" error.

Re: Just got ATT Fiber installed, can the XR700 accept fiber directly through SFP+ port?
Is this a Ethernet to SFP module? What is the brand and model # of the module?
Did you set the routers web page for using the SFP port for the internet section prior?
Does the ISP Modem have a SFP port as well?
Are you using the ISP modem as a router?

Pretty sure its fiber to SFP, Model number is D227RR-STCC

Yes I tried switching that over first thing.
Does the ISP Modem have a SFP port as well?
Yes, Ive included pics of the provided ATT router and the extra SFP Module
Are you using the ISP modem as a router?
Its an all in 1 unit, goal is to get rid of it completely and run fiber straight to XR700 via SFP

Re: Just got ATT Fiber installed, can the XR700 accept fiber directly through SFP+ port?
I'd ask the ISP if there is any kind of specific ISP configuration needed between there unit and there services.
I presume that is a Fiber to SFP module you have? I've only connected 10Gb RJ45 ethernet to SPF module with my XR router.
If you set WAN configuration to the SFP port and connected the module and the Fiber line to this module, and if your not getting any responce or the router says it's not connected, either the module maybe bad, not compatible or there is a specific configuration needed.
Checked mine again, though connected behind another router, using 10Gb ethernet to SFP module here:

Re: Just got ATT Fiber installed, can the XR700 accept fiber directly through SFP+ port?
Im new to this whole fiber / SFP thing so please forgive me. But if my plan doesnt work (Fiber directly to XR700 via SFP), can I just purchase any decent ONT and just run Ethernet from the ONT to the XR700? Or are there ISP restrictions on ONT's?
As a side note; I opted for the ATT 500MB fiber line. I dont think my house really needs anything better. We had 200MB with Xfinity and it was fine, Im just looking for the best performance possible while maintaining simplicity. Which is why I dont want to have multiple routers chained together, I just want to keep using my XR700.

That would be something to ask the ISP about. ISP have information what what they support and don't support in regards to modems and ONTs.
