NETGEAR XR1000 Just goes to password reset page

Hi,

When I type in my router IP is just get the below message.

If I fill all this out and continue I still don't get to the dashboard.  Have reset the router countless times.  I have tried Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Brave all with cleared caches and no matter what I try this still happens.  It has been like this from new.  The firmware on the router is the latest version.  I know from the community that I am not the only one to have this issue.  I wish I had kept my crappy old telstra router.  At least it didn't cost me a fortune and I could

What "router IP" is that?

What modem/gateway/ONT connects your router to the Internet?

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

Nighthawk Pro Gaming Routers - NETGEAR Communities

Gaming routers have their own DumaOS operating system that is nothing like the one on Netgear's standard routers.

You might like to search there for messages related to your problem.

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

Check for various troubleshooting tips.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

Re: NETGEAR XR1000 Just goes to password reset page

What specific FW version is currently loaded?

Be sure to clear out ALL browser caches before entering the routers web page.

Might do a re-load of FW on to the router with the router disconnected from the ISP modem. AFter the router is back to ready, factory reset the router, clear out all browser caches, then walk thru the setup wizard with MS Edge or FireFox. Complete the wizard. Do not load any saved backup configs from files. Once completed, connect the router back to the modem.

Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Re: NETGEAR XR1000 Just goes to password reset page

Hi all, thanks for the reply's

It seems that if you click "exit" instead of "next" when you enter your new passwords and security questions, it works and you get to the dashboard. Seems like a simple little bug that could be easily fixed... Not looking at anyone... Netgear... This issue is solved, at least for me.

Re: NETGEAR XR1000 Just goes to password reset page

So did you enter in new PW and security questions or did you skip this?
I was able to enter in new PW and security questions when I set up my XR1000.

Re: NETGEAR XR1000 Just goes to password reset page

I had to enter new password and SCQ but previously I was clicking on next which would get me into a loop of entering passwords and scqs. Clicking exit instead worked.
