Netgear Nighthawk router
I've got a crap general issue router from my ISP and want to upgrade to the nighthawk. I hear it's leagues better than most routers on the market and was hoping to hear some opinions from gamers who have a nighthawk router.

Re: Netgear Nighthawk router
Most any Mfr external routers are better designed over ISP modem routers. Having a external router allows users for control over the router. It's recommended to use a modem only with external routers. Though you can use modem routers with external routers.
This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem.

Re: Netgear Nighthawk router
In general though using our QoS can eliminate any local congestion meaning all your devices can use the internet at once without causing each other to lag. The Geo-Filter will allow you to force the servers you want to play on closest to you to give you the best ping possible.
