XR 500

I have an XR 500 router and my internet cuts out every 4 hours. I have contacted my internet provider and they have not had any drops in internet shown on the modem. The firmware is up to date and I need some solutions to fix this. Anything would be helpful. My internet is steady and good the rest of the time, but every four hours it randomly cuts out.

Thanks in advance.

Re: XR 500

Could you take a look in Settings > Monitoring > Connection status please. When does it say you obtained the DHCP lease and when does it say it will expire?

Re: XR 500

It says obtained 8 hrs, and expires 7 hours 57 minutes.

Re: XR 500

I am also looking at the log and it says [DoS Attack: TCP/UDP Chargen] from an IP address that is out of my state, port 53, and it happened at the time my internet cut out this morning.

Re: XR 500

Okay that should be fine but just incase in Settings > Internet Setup switch from Dynamic to Static. Also give some reserved IPs in LAN Settings to the devices you immediately notice the issue on - just give them the same IP they already have and see if it continues after that. Those entries in the logs are just connections you come in contact with, it's not actually an attack so unlikely to be the cause.

Okay sounds good. Now to wait and see if it still happens.

Re: XR 500

Not sure what happened, but my xbox would not sign back into xbox live and my computer also would not connect to discord or to the internet. So I switched everything I did back. Not sure if I did something wrong with the LAN or what. But my computer and xbox wouldn't work.

Re: XR 500

Did you give them the same IP they had already i.e. what device manager already showed that they had? If you didn't then you would've needed to reboot those devices at the very least to renew their IP address.

Re: XR 500

I did do that. In LAN setup, I hit add then clicked on the device in the reservation table and hit apply. I tried it again just now so I'll have to wait and see if it works or not.
