Connected to what?

"cannot" is not a useful problem description. It does not say what
you did. It does not say what happened when you did it. As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.

That's nice, but with my weak psychic powers, I can't see what you
did then any better than I can see what you're doing now.
> [...] Now all that is available is the downloaded app?? [...]
Says who? Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model
number, and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least).
Read. Look for "Use a Web Browser to Access the Router". Further
reading might not hurt, either.
> [...] why has this altered?
I see no evidence that anything has changed, only a bunch of vague
assertions that some invisible thing doesn't work in some unspecified
way. Hence the requests for some actual information. Which part of
"not a useful problem description" or "actual" did you find unclear?

I disagree. Your primary problem seems to be that you are unable to
provide a useful problem description. Regarding "will not", see "not a
useful problem description [...]", above.

Re: connect XR500 router on web browser
I am not being clear see below instructions from support, when i enter routerlogin.net or http://192.168.1.1 in my browser that is loggin=ed into my network provider. It does not go any further....
log in to your NETGEAR router with a web browser:
- Launch a web browser from a device that is connected to your router's network.
- Enter routerlogin.net or http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar.
The router login window displays.

What is your "my browser"? Running on what? Connected how to what?
What does "loggin=ed into my network provider" mean to you?
> [...] It does not go any further....
"further" than _what_?
A vague description of what does _not_ happen is less useful than a
clear description of what _does_ happen.

Re: connect XR500 router on web browser
to further clarify:
My browser that is logged into my network i.e. internet provider
My browser means Google Chrome and i also have Microsoft edge
Running on my home PC.
My home PC that is connected to the internet via my router.
As i have explained support mentions how to access my router via my browserr it doesnt go past dot point 2
Above is what i mean about not going any further i.e. I cannot access my router via my browser from my PC

That doesn't "clarify". I don't know what "logged into my network
i.e. internet provider" means to you.

I didn't understand it before, either.
> The router login window displays.
I can't see it. Are you looking at a request for a user name and
password? And you put in what, exactly? And then what happened?
Are you trying to say that you put in some user name and password,
and all you got was a fresh request for a user name and password? The
easy way to explain that would be that you put in a bad user name and/or
password.
> Above is what i mean about not going any further i.e. I cannot access
> my router via my browser from my PC
As I have explained before, "cannot" is not a useful problem
description. Read it again?
If you don't know the right user name and password, then look in the
User Manual for "Factory Settings" or "Reset".
