Date problem after firmware update on Nighthawk RAX200
My router is a Nighthawk RAX200, purchased a couple months ago. This weekend I noticed a firmware update was available and installed it - 1.0.2.98_1.0.54. This morning I logged into the router to check the logs as usual and saw that the router's time was correct, but the day was set to Saturday - 2 days behind. I had the router set to the Netgear NTP server, I tried setting it to one of the servers closer to me (in Germany), but the date remained 2 days off. I Googled the problem and found this often happens with faulty firmware. I never saw this behavior before I updated the firmware, so I suspect that's the case here. I didn't see where I could email support, so I'm starting this discussion on the message board.

Re: Date problem after firmware update on Nighthawk RAX200
It turns out the time displayed is wrong too - it shows the time the router was rebooted, then freezes there.

Re: Date problem after firmware update on Nighthawk RAX200
As expected, this morning I found the date and time still set to yesterday when I rebooted the router, making the logs virtually useless. Does Netgear bother to read these posts?

The same. Setting NTP doesn't work either.

Re: Date problem after firmware update on Nighthawk RAX200
I read in the Release Notes for this update that it "supports the NETGEAR automatic time zone detective algorithm" - maybe that's why the date/time function got screwed up?

Re: Date problem after firmware update on Nighthawk RAX200
I own the r7800 and the r8500 both are superior routers to this, but that is only because on day one I installed dd-wrt software. The interface on netgear is for a child. You can barely change a Wi-Fi channel without some dfs error…. I figure some chinese kid is at the programing helm…I WOULD NOT SUGGEST THIS ROUTER TO ANYONE. IT’S YEARS BEHIND WHERE IT SHOULD BE. THE SOFTWARE IS TOTAL GARBAGE AND FULL OF ERRORS. LOOK AT THE FORUMS… SHAME ON YOU netgear. 500 FOR THIS IS A THEF!

Re: Date problem after firmware update on Nighthawk RAX200
Today I updated to
V1.0.2.102_1.0.56 |
The time issue appears to have been fixed, I don't notice any other problems so far, but it's only been an hour or so

Re: Date problem after firmware update on Nighthawk RAX200
Loaded V1.0.2.102_1.0.56. NTP time now working but but stuck at Date Line West time. Cannot set to local time zone or for Daylight Saving. Reverted back to V88. Did a hard reset and reloaded V102. Still unable to set to local time zone or for daylight Saving. Reload V88 config file on top of V102. Time now set to Local Time zone but GUI still indicates that router is set to Date Line West and unable to change. Left router in that state. Probably now going over to ASUS. At least their update releases appear to clear bugs rather than create new ones!
