Good news, my RAX200 is back online working using a modified Dell laptop PSU.

FYI: 7.4mm OD is the Ground, 5.0mm ID is the 19.0V dc, and the center pin I broke off is a 5.0V dc to keep the laptop charge while it's off.

Conclusion: All you need is a 60w PSU that provide 19V dc with a 7.4mm coax plug without the center pin. Thanks to @schumaku for the idea of using an old laptop PSU, you saved me $30+ and a week waiting for it in the mail.

This is a replacement power supply for your RAXE500, or for example an R9000 or similar? Look for universal notebook power supplies 19V, 3.16 A DC resp. 60W.

If you can't find an adapter that has Netgear written in the side, then, as both @FURRYe38 and @schumaku suggest, look for a "universal" power supply.

Why are you seeking a "Genuine Netgear" power supply? Netgear won't have it own transformer factory. They all come from one of those generic "adapter farms" in China or wherever the prices are currently most attractive.

Any generic adapter will work. Just get one with the right volts, enough amps and a tip with the right (+/-) polarity and dimensions to fit your hardware.

These things are pretty common, so first check to see if you have something compatible lying around.

The details you need should be on the old adapter, on a label on the device itself and in its manual.

You can find suitable adapters in all the usual places. Some will even list compatibility with different Netgear hardware.

Some generic adapters come with a set of tips that will fit a range of different devices.

In search of a replacement, or the rare situation a router does no longer take power from what is a new - hopefully working - power supply?

I'm looking for the same PSU for my RAX200 which out lost during the move.

What is special is the plug, it's a 7.4mm OD barrel without center PIN.

I've check ebay and Amazon and both show the 2ABS060K With Center Pin. So just being 19v @3.16A isn't going to work.

This is like buying a 2018 Camry that has 3 different size tires depend on the model trim you buy.

No, it's amazingly much more a common standard connector: It was originally designed for PCs requiring 60W, 90W, and 120W, often offered as PC ITX power supply as set  Of course, there is a center contact, it's just designed different than the common barrel plugs.

You just gave me an excellent idea, I found my old Dell laptop PSU (19.0V @ 3.9amp) that has a 7.4mm OD x 5.0mm ID plug, all I need to do is break off the center pin and I have a working PSU.  Standby.....

I presume if you break off the center pin, could make it so won't work.

nothing to break off - there is a protected center contactor. What you have in your hands is a 75 W power supply - perfectly fine.

Generic PC power supplies don't have this additional 5.0 V DC power connector.. This is why I was a little hesitant when I heard about breaking off some parts 8-)

I measured the center pin with my DMM it gave me a reading of 5V, I assume it's for charging the laptop battery.  The center pin must be off otherwise it won't plug in, anyway I have a working router and problem solved.  What I want to know is why Netgear decided to use different connector plugs when it's 19V, I can understand if the plug is different when it's 12V.

For EX: RAX120 and RAX200 both routers are 19V 60W, but the connector plugs are different, RAX120 has center pin and RAX200 w/o.  I hope Netgear engineers are on this forum to answer this Q.

As I said before: The generic variants (without some additional power voltage as for driving embedded Modem) should be sufficient, as there is no standby voltage lane required.

Indeed. I have acquired various transformers with "tip sets" over the years. I have yet to find a device that defeats those.
