In recent device models and in firmware updates to older models, Netgear has depreciated telnet access to the router operating system.
If you use your access login address and append /debug.htm, do you see a checkbox option to enable telnet?

Recent devices, and old ones with new firmware, do not allow Telnet.
I doubt if the RAX45 ever supported telnet. Too new.
In any case, would that tell you the manufacturing date?
And what would that tell anyone even if they knew the answer?

Some models are manufactured over a multiyear time span. If you bought one second hand, knowing the year of manufacture would give you an idea how many years it has been in service.
Here is the telnet command to pull the manufacture date: /$ artmtd -r protime
See attached for my R9000, now you know.
I have checked several R7000 units and the command just returns null. The same for one early R7800 I have checked. Yet, several later manufacturer R7800 units (those with non removable antenna) return the date.
