Why I am having problems with an NVMe SSD USB enclosure hanging off the RAXE500 USB port?
Hi all -
Using a portable HDD presents no issues. However, I have a Sabrent NVMe USB 3.1 enclosure that has a 2TB NVMe in it.
Then it is connected via a standard USB cable to the back of the RAXE500 and I'm able to see it as a shared drive,
The NVMe is formatted for NTFS (also tried exFAT) and I am getting various I/O errors when copying files to the drive.
I suspect that there might be an incompatibility with the Sabrent enclosure and translation chip within the enclosure itself.
Has any one managed to seamlessly connect an SSD (not a flash stick) to the RAXE500?
The SSD works fine under W10/W11 but I believe that the RAXE500 is running a Linux derivative.
So there are a few variables here, to say the least.
Thanks.

the router doesn't install drivers so if the nvme drive or enclosure needs one, it'll create issues

Yes, but if Windows needs drivers, like many other USB devices, once installed shouldn't the thing work on the network?
Isn't that a red herring?

Netgear did not think this through, amongst other things.
If they request some technical information form me, I'll gladly provide it.
Poor USB implementation.
