i can see  theres a  connection on the bottom but the ip doesnt change which defeats the whole purpose of a vpn. is there a fix for this?

i actually found the problem it was none of those. i had this stupid software on my computer called realtek dragon that was limiting my ethernet to 10gbps.

Re: Getting flawless gigabit speed on wireless but grtting 5mbps on wired ethernet

What a fascinating problem.  There appear to be three obvious components to consider:

  • The Ethernet cable.  Never hurts to "rule  this out" by swapping in a different cable.
  • The router port.  Does the same speed problem exist on all four LAN ports?
    (two 2.5G and two 1G?)
  • The Ethernet adapter. I have seen discussions reporting compatibility issues with specific 2.5G Ethernet adapters.
(which adapter is this?  running on what platform?  driver firmware?)
Is there a different Ethernet device that can be connected?

How do the router and the user device report the Ethernet connection?
Perhaps the Nighthawk web interface has something similar to the Orbi "Show Statistics" display which indicates the speed that the router has negotiated for each of the Ethernet ports? (WAN & LAN)  Windows computers display similar information about the Ethernet adapter connection.
